Pleasing God is a choice

Man was created with a free will. This is evident in the garden of eden where Adam choose to disobey God (1 Timothy 2: 14).
We do have a free will to choose what we want to do. The Lord will always give us grace to follow and do what is right, once we decide that's what we want.

Lets have a look at this scripture:

 Matthew 3 : 13 - 17

13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Lets have a closer look at verse 17. For God to say that He is well pleased with Jesus shows that Jesus Christ had a choice as to whether or not to please God. If it was automatic, there would be no need for God to be pleased. Our Lord and saviour had a choice just as we do.

   Lets look at another scripture:

 John 8: 28 - 29

28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

As we walk this Christian walk, our priority should be to please God, Not man, but God!. Its a choice.

Jesus Christ our Lord said "For l always do those things that please Him". Not occasionally, but always. We should be able to say and do the same also.

Pleasing God is a choice and it can be done because  we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us! (Philippians 4: 13).
